Successful palliation of metastatic medulloblastoma with oral etoposide and risedronate

This month in the ECCO website, the clinical case of the month reports on the use of metronomics for the palliative treatment of a child with bone metastasis of a medulloblastoma. The case is written by S. Wilne and al. from the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, United Kingdom. The metronomics treatment was based on oral etoposide for a year and ridresonate. After two years, the patient remains asymptomatic on risedronate monotherapy hilighting the potential interest of for metronomics for this kind of patients. A little while ago, the Tata Memorial Team in Mumbay team reported in the JPHO favourable results in a patient with bones metastatic relaspe that was succesfully salvage with metronomic chemotherapy and biphosphonate therapy.
